Using the Forums

Welcome!

cleanforum.com is a discussion board designed to allow you to post ideas, opinions, and information and to take part in debates and discussions, all related to David Grove's Metaphor Therapy, Clean Language, Clean Space and Emergent KnowledgeTM and Penny Tompkins and James Lawley's Symbolic Modelling.

The board's hierarchical structure (common to most forums across the Internet) makes it as easy as possible for you to find the information you are interested in. For more detailed information about how the board works, read the 'how-to' tips here .

Rather than offering a long detailed explanation here of how to use the forums, we recommend that start browsing the pages and click on things that interest you. The process is quite intuitive.

If you are entirely unfamiliar with discussion boards and web forums, here's the structure in brief:

Forums

Once you have left the site's home page and arrived at the discussion board, you will be looking at the Forum Index page. This is the highest level of the discussion board.

On the Forum Index page you will see

Categories, which contain

Forums, which contain

Threads or Topics, which contain

Posts.

Users

cleanforum.com employs a user system to manage access to the site. There are four kinds of users: a guest user, a registered user, a moderator and an administrator.

A guest user can read posts (except in forums marked "MEMBERS ONLY") and can only post messages in the Guest Questions forum.

A registered user (or 'member') is someone who has obtained a username and password from cleanforum.com via the simple online form. A member can read, post, reply and vote in all forums except PRIVATE forums. To register, click on the Register link at the top of the page. For help with registering, go to General/Using the Forums/6-Step Registration walk-through.

Moderators (mods) and administrators (too grand for an abbreviation...), as well as being members, have special power and responsibility for the smooth operation of the forums and of the board. They monitor the forums and also contribute to them.

Support

For quick-start information (how to register a username and password, how to log in, etc), read the relevant topic in the General forum.

We will endeavour to help with any technical questions about using the discussion board as soon as possible. Please bear in mind that we are not a company and are not paid for this service. We have lives to lead and livings to earn, as you do.

So, before asking us for assistance, we ask that you take the time to read the available information about how to use the discussion board. All this information can be accessed in the General forum. Thanks - we appreciate your understanding.

I see that some threads go from latest to earliest, while others go from earliest to latest. How is this controlled? Is it the original poster? the moderator? or, I'm hoping, a user setting?

I much prefer latest to earliest. Is there a way I can achieve this?

Hi Bob

You can change the default settings in your User Options (top left of menu bar) then Edit Options and Thread Display Options.

You can also change options for individual threads in the Display Options under each thread.
