Why 9+3 questions?
In Symbolic Modelling, we currently identify a set of 9+3 questions as being the core of the model, the minimum that a facilitator needs in order to use the process. Why 9+3 questions? Why not just say 12?
The 9 are the basic modelling questions for developing Attributes, Location, Relationships and Sequence.
The 3 are the Intention questions that focus on Desired Outcomes (what we would like to happen) and direct attention towards change.
Rather than identifying 12 questions, Penny and James say "9+3" so that we can remind ourselves of the distinction between when we are modelling (see FAQ for definition) and facilitating change.
