The Grove family invite you to the unveiling of
David’s memorial headstone at

PyesPa Cemetery, Row 6

on Saturday 29 November 2008 at 11 am.

We will have a short ceremony there and would love you to participate by sharing your memories and love for David, through verse, song or narrative.

We will then go and share lunch together at the Mount Maunganui Surf Club, corner Adams Avenue and Marine Parade. That part of our day together will start at 1.00 pm.

The Mount was one of David’s favourite places. He enjoyed walking along the beach, climbing the Mount and loved to soak in the adjacent hot pools.

You may like to include some of these activities during the afternoon.

For catering purposes, please RSVP to:

barbarasayers@clear.net.nz (barbarasayers@clear.net.nz) or phone +64 7 578 2765 any time up to 8 November 2008.

Thank you.

Dear Barbara,

When I think of all the times David went on the plane to be with us, it seems only a
trivial sacrifice to make the journey to be with you and your family onovember 29th. But instead I can only be you in thought, which is easy to imagine, having spent some time at Mount Maunganui last January.
Also, it is easy to picture David there: wherever he went, he would always find a hot tub, a sauna or a place to swim (like at Carol's in the Thames!). The last time I climbed uphill with him was in Glastonbury on an early Sundaymorning towards the Tor.

The day after David's funeral there was another one: that of Sir Edmund Hillary. Together with his guide Tenzing Norgay he managed to climb Mount Everest, thanks to the good organization of John Hunt. Similarly David guided thousands of clients, not only to the top of their worlds, but first of all out of their trenches. If I had anything to say about
it, he would deserve to be called 'Sir' David Grove.

Last week we planted a tree for him at Jennifer's in France and watched the recordings of the funeral ceremony. Having learned so much from him, it was easy to fill the program of our annual Grovian meeting with our own contributions.

Thank you for having contributed to David being who he was.

Love,

Corrie van Wijk
