Hi, just wanted to know if 'clean' has or is being utilized with children and at what ages has it been effective (of course this depends on the specific child but in a general sense). I am not working with children at the moment but will be in the near future.
kind regards
Lee

in 2007 to 2008 17% of my clients were children (3-12). what works for me is a combination of clean language and clean space. In clean space I have them pick what colour of paper and crayon they would like to use to identify the space. I then either have them direct me to draw/write on the paper or they will draw/make their mark. I then add given their maturity and ability to stay focused "in between" space.
works for me

Thank you Michael for your reply. Do I take it that you are in private practice or community based? I came back from Canada about three weeks ago. You have a very lovely country there.
kind regards

Hi, we have a couple of 'success stories' on the website here:
http://www.cleanchange.co.uk/store/CleanLanguage/2008/08/08/using-clean-with-primary-schoolchildren/
and here:

The youngest participant on our trainings so far was 10 when she began, and seemed to 'get it' very easily. She is now 11 and has completed Module 3. (For a variety of fairly obvious reasons we don't routinely have children on our trainings - Amanda was there on a 'special case' basis)

Hi Lee,
My names Caitlin, I co-run Training Attention Ltd. I started working with clean and children in 1997 in Kingscross in London. We used it in a learning context at first and then it has got bigger and bigger over the years. We've covered the following contexts and love to share experience and support others in this field
Dalston youth project working with groups of 10 'at risk' teenagers outside of the school system 11-14 years developing self-modelling for temper, maths, confidence spelling etc
Training teachers and Learning Mentors to use clean questions to develop learning metaphors for children 5-15
Whole school project of 1500 children and staff in a school in hull using clean questions to get staff and students to communicate with themselves and others more effectively
Teaching police interviewers clean questions to use when video interviewing children
1-1 clients from 6 - 16 for anxiety, learning, anger, depression
Training trainee and qualified teachers to use clean questions in the classroom and in PE
What is it you want to get involved in, if we can't help we usually know someone who can.
Marie delaney who runs the Learning Harbour in Cork, Ireland and has just written teaching the unteachable is an absolute whizz at using clean questions with pupils of all ages and is a great resource.
Best wishes Caitlin
I've just posted another relevant article - this time a transcript of a teacher (Julie McCracken) using Clean in the playground with six-year-olds. Read it at http://www.cleanchange.co.uk/store/CleanLanguage/2008/10/20/clean-language-in-the-playground/
