Sarah Nixon of Liverpool John Moores University, and myself are just about to send to the printers 2 workbooks which will be accompanied by a DVD in which 7 'successes' go through some symbolic modelling. Together they're designed to bring clean language and symbolic modelling gently into the sphere of student life. There will be 3 workbooks, one for each year of University helping students self=model and learn to learn.
Its a delight for me because lots of these students will go on to become teachers and its fabulous to get these ideas, philosophies and skills in so early in their career development.
The reason I particularly want to share it is that the project was based on clean questions and on modelling the system from start to finish.
The initial meeting was asking the stak holders what they wanted to have happen and using clean questions to explore their outcome.
Next we 'clean' interviewed students to find out what they would have wanted to help them get more from University
Then we used clean questions to interview sports successes so that they were self modelling the areas we were going to ask the students to self-model.
Finally we worked with the staff team who are tutors to the students so that they'll self-model in the same areas that the students will.
The opportunity to do such a 'systemic' piece of work is just lovely. Its been and still is inspirational and we'd just like to share what's happening with the community and hope to network with others interested in this area.
The 2 sets of workbooks are
Training Attention in Sports Development
and
Training Attention in Coaching development
If anyone else is working in tertiary education we'd love to chat with you.
