Message on hearing of David’s death from Jennifer de Gandt
I am writing this in India, having just heard of David’s death and wishing to link with him, his family, friends and colleagues from all over the world, as he prepares to make his last journey to his Maori ancestors and New Zealand roots.
Dear David,
We in France were very privileged to have had you visit us over the last five years and especially for the Autumn of 2007, when we learnt and laughed with you and, as you told us, we changed you as you changed us. For this our thanks.
We are deeply grateful for this close relationship we had with you and your work. You have been generous of spirit and stimulating beyond belief. Have no fear, as now you rest in the mystery of your origins, we will carry on all those projects you started with us. La Bouvetière will plant a tree for you. You will be present with us in spirit. Please take our love and gratitude with you as you journey to the Source.
