David's appreciation for and fascination with music was one of the connections we shared (I am a professional classical musician), and I think it only fitting that music be a part of my celebration of his life and our work together.
I am planning on doing a songfest for David on Sunday night, including some recordings and live performances of some of his favorite music. I am in the process of compiling a list of music that was significant to David and/or musical groups that he really liked. Since I only know the music he was into during the 1990s, I would greatly appreciate it if any of you have any suggestions of works I could add to my list from the last decade or so. Here’s what I have so far:
Jeff Buckley’s “Hallelujah” (Thanks to Lynn)
John Tavener: "The Protecting Veil (http://www.amazon.com/John-Tavener-Protecting-Thrinos-Benjamin/dp/B000002SRM/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1200662921&sr=8-2)" with Steven Isserlis and Gennady Rozhdestvensky
Henryk Gorecki: Symphony 3 "Sorrowful Songs" (http://www.amazon.com/Henryk-Gorecki-Symphony-Sorrowful-Songs/dp/B000005J1C/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1200662833&sr=8-1) with David Zinman, London Sinfonietta, and Dawn Upshaw
“Deep Breakfast,” “No Blue Thing” and “Sky of Mind” by Ray Lynch
Billy Joel, “River of Dreams”
Penguin Café Orchestra
Enya
Thank you!
