If you are holding a commemoration event around the time and date of David's funeral, you may like to post details of it to this thread by using the Post Reply button here http://www.cleanforum.com/images/postreply.png (http://www.cleanforum.com/forums/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=734) or above or below this message.
Whether it's a gathering of friends or just you and a mountain top and your thoughts, by posting it here, we can be aware of each other around the world and truly co-memorate, in other words 'remember together'.

From Philip Harland
Just to confirm that those of us who couldn't make it to NZ are holding a commemoration day (Sat 19th Jan 2 - 5 pm)hosted by Richard and Sheila Stacey in Finchley, North London and taking along mementoes and metaphors.
Here's mine: an excerpt from a little Maori prayer to protect and encourage the people. I imagine reciting this while walking with David on the wild west coast of North Island, as once we did after a family funeral at the Marae where David himself will be remembered, with the wind and waves arriving unchecked from the oceans that link New Zealand with the world:
Stretch forth from the origins
The roots around and about
The roots from without
The birds call, the night fades
The morning streaks through
Bind together those unseen
Bind together those moving
Enter from afar
Enter from within
Settle the fearful
Calm the alert.
And the English lyric to the Maori farewell song Haere Ra:
Now is the hour when we must say goodbye
Soon you'll be sailing far across the sea
While you're away please remember me
When you return you'll find me waiting here.
[Phil: slightly surreal Hawaiian guitar version of the tune (http://folksong.org.nz/poatarau/now_is_the_hour.mp3)]
As well as sharing our sadness and celebration we'll no doubt have a few laughs too.The mad magician himself would have had it no other way. Do come if you can and bring something to share.
love
Philip

It seems that these moments and streams of 'commemorations' come pretty much of their own bidding.
The First:
I described here, http://www.cleanforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=331
The Second:
This was another moment, also in the same session with people form the Psychiatric ward in Exeter Hospital. It was another piece we created in the small summer house, packed with people, the windows all misted up with condensation. This time, a shape appeared, moving slowly towards us ; no side to side movement almost not alive. A silhouette coming towards us as the energy from our sound creation had a quality of great poinience and a sense of going away. Again there was a recognition in the group of this begin connected with David.
The third:
AT the end of the session, I had another, and very instant request to play the Tibetan singing bowl. In that small space it was very loud and powerful, and a note come from it like I'd never heard before, a solid singing of soul - I'm sure David heard that one too.

On the morning of Sunday 20th January, a few of us Gathered at The Studio, Harford Barn ( in Devon, England) in honour and tribute of David. After walking in the 6 Acre forest amongst the trees and by the stream we joined each other and shared some time in silent contemplation, words and sounds.
This was the first sound that started our started our sharing; a calling, a sending and a blessing for David.

We gathered at The Studio, Harford Barn ( near Exeter Devon, England) on Sunday 20 Jan. Earlier that morning I'd opened at this extract
'You are not simply there, you imagine who you are'
in Divine Beauty, the invisible embrace, by John O 'Donohue; - p135
this is what I read:
