This morning I did a Moving Sound session with patients from the psychiatric ward at Exeter Hospital. After one of the pieces of music we created there was the most incredible silence.

"that was amazing"

What kind of amazing?

"They came form afar, it was as if they filled all the hills around, there was a lot of sadness, yet it ended in a great joyful celebration, he was a wise and respected leader"

This was the response that came from the man next to me. I then told them of your death. "Ahh yes." they knew that you are the wise and respected leader we had just created the piece about.

David you understood what I do in my work in a way that no one else. I don't quite remember exactly what you said after the developing group in London in 2001 when I first ventured to show you what I'd been doing with incorporating what I 'd learnt into what I do with music; I do remember it inspired and encouraged me greatly to continue with my experimentations. Five years later when you popped into my Moving Sound session at the conferenece in Glastonbury you got to see how I'd added in more movement and then took me for 'a little chat' as we waked, late at night, around the town. This time you challenged me as well as inspired, challenged me to go deeper, discover about what is happening and inspired me to share it more. We never did get to meet to do that little research group, I'd been hoping it would be this year ... perhaps, with whoever I do do it with, you'll be there in some kind of way !!

David I am so very greatfull for how you opened me and for the tools that you have given that help me open the hearts and minds of people who often are disregarded. It touches me greatly that today one of those groups of people created such a celebration for you and had such clear sense of you and who you are.

love, blessings, respect and gratitude

Christoffer,

I would love to learn more about how you use David's concepts with music. I myself have often wondered about the connections between music and movement, and how the creative process of metaphor applies to other artistic disciplines.

Maybe in the future, we can discuss this further, if you are open to that.

Best regards,
