When James phoned with the message about David it seemed to take a long time to sink in, how could it be true? And it is and so many memories came
flooding back, so many funny stories, so much love and care, so many
incredible conversations and explorations and of course his work, his life's
work. I read Wendy's email about the lost shoe, Wendy it was so funny and I still don't think the guard at the station has got over David asking him to
jump down onto the rail and get his shoe as the train was just beginning to
move! I so remember the time he went to scotland and went with two black shoes, both for his left foot. He decided that if he crossed his legs it
wouldn't look so silly and if he kept everyone engaged they would keep their
eyes on his face rather than look at his feet.. he was a great story teller.
His mind was like a treasure box, and there was always a corner that was
waiting to give of its amazing insights and discoveries.
I was thinking of Davids love of adventures and his spontaniety, and how he
found planning hard and yet everything always worked out. I remember how I was supposed to meet him in Buxton to help a friend of his and he rang me to say oops he was in Japan and would be back soon... David was an inspiration, he was fun, he was a free thinker, an explorer, he was so full of love and affection and we will all miss him very much. Ali, Claire, Adam & Abi
