So his time came and went. So many things done and so many threads created for others to pick up and follow. I always enjoyed every moment with David. There was never a predictable second went by and each one loaded with new insights and challenges, and above all a delicious sense of humour mixed with a delightful sense of chaos, fuelled by a passion for exploring ever expanding new frontiers. Always another world to explore.
And David changed my way of working when I once asked him a “clever” question designed to challenge his own behaviour. I should have known better. His reply was classic David:
“And what did that question do for you John?”
To me David was a very human, dedicated and professional friend. I only regret that we never completed our work on pain and context and I never thanked him properly. I shall miss him and carry his inspiration with me.
David, there are so many conversations for us still to have. Thank you for your friendship, support and inspiration. I look forward to meeting you again as you paddle your big waka in the sky. Enjoy your new world.
